ATLANTA, Ga—Justice Howard (Albany State) was named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Offensive Player of the Week, while Torcealon Kelley (Benedict) earned Defensive Player of the Week, released by the league office on Wednesday.
Jahkishma Soto (Albany State) was also tabbed Setter of the Week.
Offensive Player of the Week
Justice Howard, OH/MB, Albany State
- Howard helped lead Albany State to 2-0 record to open conference play as she led the team with 23 kills over the weekend
- In both matches, the 5’8 junior had a team high in kills leading with nine against Fort Valley and 14 against Benedict.
Defensive Player of the Week
Torcealon Kelley, OH/DS, Benedict
- Kelley topped the week off leading the Lady Tigers to a 1-1 win over Fort Valley
- The Alexander City, Ala. native finished the week with 35 digs (3.89 avg), one block, and one service ace to give the Tigers a split in two conference matches
Setter of the Week
Jahkishma Soto, OH/RH, Albany State
- Collected 48 assists averaging six assists per set to lead the Golden Rams to a 2-0 record to open conference play
- The 5’10 senior posted a game high 47 assists (23.5 pct) in the 3-2 win over Benedict while posting a double-double adding on ten digs
- Additionally, she finished the week with two kills and two service aces
