Stillman’s Braughton and Miles’ Talley Named to All-South Region Softball Team

ATLANTA-- The 2012 Daktronics All-South Region Softball Teams were recently announced with two student-athletes from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) receiving honors. Stillman College shortstop Bailey Braughton was named to the first team while Miles College relief pitcher Amanda Talley was named to the second team.

In 2012, Braughton, a 5-foot-3 junior from Northport, AL, ranked tied for second in the SIAC with 12 home runs and 69 hits while also ranking second with 60 runs scored. The 2012 SIAC Player of the Year also finished ninth with a .434 batting average and third with a .805 slugging percentage. Braughton, who was also an All-SIAC first team selection, finished fourth in the league with 28 stolen bases and ninth with a .505 on-base percentage along with a .942 fielding percentage. Braughton and the Lady Tigers finished with a 35-15 overall record, 23-3 in the SIAC, this season along with the SIAC West Division regular season title and an appearance in the SIAC Softball Championship game.
 
Talley, a native of Pinson, AL, finished 10th in the SIAC with 11 wins while finishing tied for second with 10 games in relief during the 2012 season. The 5-foot-6 junior also finished with 60 strikeouts, including 19 with the batter looking which ranked tenth in the SIAC. Talley helped the Lady Bears to a 29-28 overall record, 19-7 in the SIAC, while capturing the 2012 SIAC Softball Championship and an appearance in the NCAA South Regional.

The team is voted on by the NCAA Division II members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA).
