Stillman’s Braughton Named to Daktronics All-America Softball Team

ATLANTA—The 2012 Daktronics All-America softball team was recently announced with Stillman College shortstop Bailey Braughton being named to the third team.

Braughton, a 5-foot-3 junior from Northport, AL, ranked tied for second in the SIAC in 2012 with 12 home runs and 69 hits while also ranking second with 60 runs scored. The 2012 SIAC Player of the Year also finished ninth with a .434 batting average and third with a .805 slugging percentage. Braughton, who was also an All-SIAC first team selection, finished fourth in the league with 28 stolen bases and ninth with a .505 on-base percentage along with a .942 fielding percentage.

Braughton helped the Lady Tigers finish with a 35-15 overall record, 23-3 in the SIAC, this season along with the SIAC West Division regular season title and an appearance in the SIAC Softball Championship game.

Braughton, who earned all-region first team honors earlier this month, was the lone representative from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) on this year’s Daktronics All-American softball team, becoming the first Stillman player to receive this honor since 2007.

The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The team is voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
