KSU Softball Student-Athlete to Represent SIAC on NCAA Committee

FRANKFORT, Ky. – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) recently announced that Kentucky State University (KSU) softball student-athlete, Teya Everett, has been selected a the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) representative for the Division II National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Everett, a sophomore from Detroit, Mich., begins her term immediately and will serve through the NCAA Convention in January 2014. The mission of the NCAA Division II Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity for all student-athletes; protecting student-athlete welfare; and fostering a positive student-athlete image.
 
“Teya has been an outstanding member of our SAAC,” said Dr. Denisha L. Hendricks, KSU’s Director of Athletics. There is no doubt in my mind that she will represent KSU Athletics with the utmost character, grace and style.”
 
As a committee member, Everett is responsible for identifying issues and initiatives affecting Division II institutions, educating conference and campus Student-Athlete Advisory Committees, reviewing and responding to issues raised by other committees and reviewing and responding to proposed NCAA legislation. She will also be called upon to participate in the Division II legislative process through involvement in the Annual Convention, take part in the annual summit with Division II Management Council and support the campus and conference community through community outreach efforts.
