2011 SIAC Men's Cross Country Champion Morehouse College

TUSKEGEE, AL—Morehouse College claimed the men’s title at the 2011 SIAC Cross Country Championship ran at the Macon County Road and Bridge Department in Tuskegee, AL.

The Maroon Tigers ran a total time of 2:25:05.70 and an average time of 29:01.14 to win their third consecutive SIAC cross country title. Morehouse had five runners finish in the top 10 was led by senior Michael Vinson, who finished second overall with a time of 28:38.53. Benedict College finished in second place while Fort Valley State University finished in third place.
 
With a time of 28:19.39, Benedict senior Dickson Toroitich finished his career by winning his fourth consecutive men’s individual title and was named SIAC Most Valuable Performer of the men’s championship meet. Morehouse’s Willie Hill was named SIAC Men’s Cross Country Coach of the Year.
 
Regular season honors in the east division mirrored the championship results as Toroitich was named East Division Runner of the Year, Hill was named East Division Coach of the Year, and Morehouse was named East Division Team of the Year. In the west division, Stillman College swept the regular season honors as Curtis Morgon was named West Division Runner of the Year and Pierre Goode was named West Division Coach of the Year with the Tigers also being named West Division Team of the Year.
 
With a 3.88 grade point average, Hadrien Choukroun of Benedict College led the SIAC Men’s Cross Country All-Academic team while Morehouse College earned the All-Academic Team Award.
 
Morehouse will advance to the NCAA South Regional Meet, which will take place on November 5th at Tampa University in Tampa, FL.
