2011 SIAC Football Week Six Players of the Week Announced

Atlanta, GA—The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announces its top performers for week six of the 2011 football season.

Offensive Player of the Week

McKinsley Marbury—Lane (QB, 6-0, 185, Birmingham, AL, SO)-- Marbury rushed for 142 yards on 29 carries and three touchdowns. He also completed 18 of 25 passes for 142 yards and a touchdown in a 26-24 upset win over #12 Albany State.
 
Defensive Player of the Week

Chigbo Anunoby—Morehouse (DL, 6-6, 300, Jefferson City, MO, SR)-- Anunoby had six solos tackles, including four tackles for loss, and three sacks with two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in a 17-14 win over Tuskegee.
 
Newcomer of the Week

Dondre Purnell—Stillman (QB, 5-10, 185, Powder Springs, GA, FR)-- Purnell had four touchdown passes,  which tied a single-game high in the conference this season,  while completing 7-of-16 for 156 yards. He also had 10 carries for 65 yards and a touchdown.

Offensive Lineman of the Week
 
Jared Garret—Kentucky State (OL, 6-2, 265, Richmond, KY, SR)—Garret graded out at 96% and lead the way for an offense that gained 424 total yards (372 rushing) while allowing no sacks and no pressures.

 Special Teams Player of the Week
 
Stewart Moody—Tuskegee (P, 6-0, 185, Greenville, AL, SO) — Moody punted six times for 250 yards, averaging 41.7 yards per punt with a long of 58 and two inside the 20. He also averaged 55.3 per kickoff on three attempts.

Honorable Mention Performances

Jordan Lewis- RB- Miles- JR- Lewis had 142 total yards, including 110 yards rushing, in a 16-13 win over Clark Atlanta.

David Carter- RB- Morehouse- JR- Carter rushed for 99 yards on 29 carries and a touchdown, finishing with 107 total yards of offense. He was named Morehouse’s Most Outstanding Player of the 76th Morehouse-Tuskegee Classic.

Nathan Hoyte- RB- Albany State- FR- Hoyte had a team-high 76 yards rushing on 14 carries and two touchdowns.

Jacquise Lockett- RB- Kentucky State- FR- In Saturday's win over FVSU, Lockett rushed for a career-high 138 yards on 14 carries and scored two touchdowns in a 25-24 victory. He averaged 9.9 yards per carry with a long of 49 yards.

Chris Slaughter- WR- Fort Valley State- WR- Slaughter was the game's leading receiver with five receptions for72 yards and one touchdown from 21 yards out.

Larry Whitfield- DB- Albany State- FR- Whitfield tied for a game-high 12 tackles, including seven solo, and a tackle for loss, in a 26-24 loss to Lane.

Kedric Hooks- DL- Lane- SR- Hooks had five tackles, including four solo, and two sacks.  

Keith Massey- DB- Kentucky State- SR- Massey had two tackles and a career-high two interceptions, including one that sealed the game with 29 seconds remaining against Fort Valley State.  

Anthony Johnson - DB- Stillman- JR- Johnson had four tackles, two sacks, and two forced fumbles, both of which led to touchdowns. He also returned one fumble for 18 yards in a 44-0 win over Benedict.

Courtney Daniels- LB- Fort Valley State- SR- Daniels had a game-high 17 tackles, including eight solo in a 25-24 loss to Kentucky State.

Justin Nared- QB- Tuskegee- FR- Nared rushed for 23 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. He also completed 11 of 22 passes for 72 yards and was named Tuskegee’s Most Outstanding Player in the 76th Tuskegee-Morehouse Classic.

William Golston- WR- Lane- FR – Golston had six catches for 62 yards and a touchdown in a 26-24 win over #12 Albany State.

Justin Williams- RB- Kentucky State- FR- Williams had a career-high 180 all-purpose yards, including a career-high 176 yards rushing on 20 carries.

Jahyrie Harris- QB- Fort Valley State- FR- Harris completed 8 of 16 passes for 118 yards with one touchdown pass of 21 yards.

Georgio Washington- OL- Lane- SO – Washington helped lead an offensive line that gave up no sacks against Albany State and produced 295 total yards.

Kevin Brown- OL-Stillman- SR– Brown guided an offensive line that helped Stillman rush for 108 yards and two touchdowns.

Devon Perry- PR/KR- Lane- JR- Perry returned two kickoffs for 69 yards, including a 49-yard return that set up a Lane touchdown early in the first quarter. 

Marquette King- P- Fort Valley State- SR- King had four punts and averaged 55 yards per punt with a long of 68 yards.

Ronnie Partridge- P- Stillman- SR- Partridge punted six times averaging 44.7 yards per punt with a long of 50 and one inside the 20.
