SIAC Football: Week 1 Player of the Week Honors

The SIAC Football Player of the Week honors for the week of August 30th:

Offensive Player of the Week
Stanley Jennings - Albany State (QB, Jr, 6-2, 235, Marietta, GA)
Jennings led the Golden Rams to a 42-12 victory over the Kentucky State Thorobreds. He threw for 267 yards, completing 13 of 19, and three touchdowns. He also rushed another 27 yards for the Golden Rams.

Defensive Player of the Week
Andre Wicker – Clark Atlanta- (DE, Sr, 5-10, 205, Atlanta, GA)
Wicker had 9 tackles, .5 tackle for loss, and a 63-yard fumble return for touchdown in a 20-6 win over Lane.

Newcomers of the Week
Robert Welton – Albany State- (RB, Jr, 5-11, 215, Macon, GA)
Welton scored two touchdowns to lead the Golden Rams to a 42-12 victory over Kentucky State. Welton rushed for 63 yards on 11 carriers with a long rush of 24 yards. He averaged 5.7 yards per rush.
 
Offensive Lineman of the Week
Stacy Louis – Morehouse (OL, Sr, 6-2, 315, College Park, GA)
Louis anchored a Morehouse offensive line that piled up 481 yards of total offense, convert 9-of-19 third-down chances and score on 4-of-7 chances in the red zone. Louis and the rest of the Morehouse linemen allowed no sacks in 34-27 overtime win against Benedict.
 
Special Teams Players of the Week
Chris Spalding – (P, So, 5-11, 178, Florence, KY)
Spalding had 6 punts for 263 yards, averaging 43.8 yards per punt and a long of 64 yards as well as two punts inside the 20-yard line.
 
Honorable Mention Performances
Prathon Wilkerson-Albany State- Prathon Wilkerson intercepted a Thorobred pass and returned the ball seven yards to scored for the Golden Rams. Wilkerson also recorded four tackles with two solos.
Michael Mavromichalis-Albany State- Michael Mavromichalis was a key anchor of ASU's Gold Rush offense which racked up 418 total offensive yards, including 283 passing and 135 rushing yards. The ASU offense averaged 7 yards per play on 60 plays.
Brandon Hamilton-Albany State- Brandon Hamilton kicked for three successful PATs for the Golden Rams. Hamilton also recorded 389 yards on six kickoffs, an average of 64.8 yards per kick.
Corey Gardhigh- Benedict- had 2 catches for 75 yards and 1 TD also was the Dr. Leroy Walker MVP of the Palmetto Classic for Benedict
Al Glay-Benedict- 9 tackles (6 solo, 3 assist) and 1-sack 1.5 tackle for loss
DeQuan Starling-Benedict- Starling had 3 punt returns for 31 yards, including one for 16 yards. He also had 4 tackles and 2 assist
Eddie Vickers- Benedict- Vickers registered 3 pancake blocks
Milton Meyers-Benedict- 3 kick returns for 70 yards; 37 yards the longest of the returns
Ronald Thompson-Clark Atlanta- Thompson was 12-26 for 157 yards, 1 TD, with the longest pass being 37 yards, in a 20-6 over Lane.
James Ingram-Clark Atlanta-helped Clark Atlanta gain 221 yards of total offense in a 20-6 win over Lane.
Joshua Dubois- Clark Atlanta- Dubois averaged 37 yards per punt, with a long of 49; 2 TB; 1 in 20
Brandon Anderson- Fort Valley State- 11 carries for 49 yards with one touchdown run (13 yards); averaged 4.5 yards per carry.
Ricky Johnson-Fort Valley State- Led both teams in tackles with a total of nine (seven solo, two assists). Had two tackles for losses totaling four yards and one pass break up.
Tony Davis-Fort Valley State – Davis hauled in five receptions totaling 63 yards with a long of 21 yards.
An’Thon Harris- Fort Valley State-Harris had 4 punt returns for 86 yards, including a 46 yard touchdown in a 24-3 win over Miles.
Jamaree Gordon-Kentucky State- Gordon had a game high three receptions for 124 yards for KSU offense that had 225 yards receiving.
Derrick Addai- Kentucky State-Led the Thorobreds with 8 tackles (4 solo), 1 tackle for loss, 1 fumble recovery and one breakup.
 Dae'Ron Williams-Kentucky State- Williams had 4 tackles (3 solo), 1.5 tackles for loss
Milton Meeks-Lane-10 tackles (6 solo, 4 assist), 1 pass break up, and 2 tackles for loss 8 yards
Tahj Dent-Lane-rushed for 125 yards on 16 carries; also passed for 67 yards passing, and totaled 192 yards of offense. Helped guide Lane to 245 yards of offense.
Brian Wooten-Lane- 5 punts for 199 yards, 39.8 punting average, long 42 yards.

William Brack-Morehouse- completed 16-of-32 passes for 157 yards. He rushed for 73 yards and 2 touchdowns. Brack directed a Morehouse offense that amassed 481 yards, converted 9-of-19 third-down chances and scored on 4-of-7 chances in the red zone.
Brandon Houston-Morehouse- Houston recorded 8 tackles, 6 solos and 2 assists. He forced a fumble and recovered and returned a fumble 42 yards. He also had one tackle for loss.
David Hector-Morehouse- caught 7 passes for 86 yards. Five of his catches resulted in third-down or fourth-down conversions.
David Carter-Morehouse- Carter rushed for 155 yards on 30 carries and 3 touchdowns in a 34-27 overtime win over Benedict.
Ian Mullen-Morehouse- Mullen punted 5 times for an average of 40.8 yards. He had one touchback and one punt inside the 20.
