Wildcats Fall to Rollins in Regional

The Fort Valley State University (FVSU) Men’s Tennis Team concluded its 2010 season with a first round loss to Rollins College in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II South Region Tournament on Thursday, May 6th.  The region tournament took place on the campus of Valdosta State University and pitted the Wildcats against the seventh ranked Tars.

 

In doubles play FVSU’s Tommy Williams and Kenneth Thornton were defeated by Jeff Morris and Neil Clausen by an 8-2 score.  The Wildcat team of Drew Belk and Brandon Pringle lost to Nick Rowlands and Chris Herbert of Rollins while Kelvin Oliver, Jr. and Dwayne White were defeated by Pablo Seijo and Arturo Baravalle, 8-0.,

 

With a 3-0 lead after doubles play, the Tars closed the match with single wins when Morris defeated Williams, 6-0, 6-0 and Seijo defeated Belk, 6-0, 6-0.

 

The Wildcats finished the season with a 9-9 record and took second place in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC).  This was the fourth appearance for the Wildcats in the region tournament under Head Coach Willie Foster.
